This Privacy Policy applies to AwayStay, Inc. (“AwayStay,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) and covers all services offered through the AwayStay platform, including AwayStay Stays, ez-Ride, and ez-Eats.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly to us, information generated through your use of our services, and information from third parties where applicable.
Information you provide:
- Account registration details: name, email address, phone number, and password
- Profile information: profile photo, preferred payment methods, and saved addresses
- Identity verification: government-issued ID for hosts and driver applicants
- Payment information: credit/debit card details (processed and stored securely by Stripe; AwayStay does not store full card numbers)
- Property listings: photos, descriptions, pricing, availability, and location information submitted by hosts
- Communications: messages sent through our in-app messaging system between guests and hosts, or guests and drivers
- Referral information: your unique referral code and, if you were referred by another user, the referral code used at registration
Information generated by your use of our services:
- Booking and transaction history
- Location data: for ez-Ride, we collect your pickup and dropoff locations; drivers share real-time GPS location during active rides
- Device information: device type, operating system, app version, and unique device identifiers
- Usage data: pages viewed, features used, search queries, and interactions within the app
- Reviews and ratings you submit
Information from third parties:
- Background check results for driver applicants (processed by Checkr, Inc.)
- Payment processing information from Stripe
- Authentication information if you sign in via a third-party identity provider
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your account and verify your identity
- Process bookings, payments, and refunds
- Connect guests with hosts and riders with drivers
- Provide real-time ride tracking and delivery tracking
- Send booking confirmations, trip reminders, and service notifications
- Calculate loyalty discounts and service credits
- Investigate and resolve disputes, fraud, and safety issues
- Improve our services through analytics and usage data
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your data to serve third-party advertising.
3. How We Share Your Information
We share information only as necessary to provide our services:
- Between guests and hosts: When a booking is confirmed, guests and hosts can see each other’s first name, profile photo, and in-app messages. Hosts see the guest’s general check-in date; guests see the property address only after booking confirmation.
- Between riders and drivers: During an active ez-Ride trip, drivers and riders can see each other’s first name, vehicle information, and real-time location. If a driver has added a phone number to their profile, that phone number is also displayed to the rider during the active trip to enable direct contact.
- Service providers: We share data with Stripe (payments), Checkr (background checks), Amazon Web Services (cloud infrastructure), and email delivery providers. These providers are contractually bound to use your data only to provide services to AwayStay.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose information when required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of users or the public.
4. Data Retention
We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. In-app notifications are automatically deleted after 90 days. Booking and transaction records are retained for 7 years for tax and legal compliance purposes. You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time by contacting us at support@awaystay.fun.
5. Security
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including TLS encryption for data in transit, AES-256 encryption for sensitive data at rest, tokenized payment processing through Stripe (we never store raw card numbers), and access controls that limit which employees can access personal data.
No system is completely secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at support@awaystay.fun.
6. Your Rights and Choices
You have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correction: Update or correct inaccurate information through your account settings
- Deletion: Request deletion of your account and personal data, subject to legal retention requirements
- Portability: Request your data in a portable format
- Opt-out of marketing: Unsubscribe from promotional emails at any time via the unsubscribe link in those emails

7. Cookies and Tracking
Our website uses cookies to maintain session state, remember your preferences, and understand how visitors use our site. We use essential cookies (required for the service to function) and analytics cookies (to understand usage patterns). We do not use advertising or tracking cookies for third-party ad networks. You can disable cookies in your browser settings; doing so may affect some functionality.
8. Children’s Privacy
AwayStay is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we learn that a minor has created an account, we will promptly delete it. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, contact us at support@awaystay.fun.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting a notice in the app or sending you an email at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Continued use of AwayStay after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
